Sometimes I forget what it feels like to simply stop. Not the kind of stopping that comes from exhaustion, when your body finally forces you to slow down, but the kind that feels like a conscious choice. A soft exhale. A moment where the world seems to hush just enough for me to notice the beauty hidden in the ordinary.

This morning, I sat with my tea and realized how often I move from one task to the next without giving myself permission to rest in between. My mind insists there is always something urgent waiting for me. But my heart quietly reminds me that presence is where life is actually unfolding.

When I allow myself to pause, I notice my breath. I notice the way the sunlight stretches across the window. I notice how my shoulders begin to release the tension they have been holding. Most importantly, I notice the quiet voice inside me that whispers truths I often forget to hear when I am busy filling every silence with movement and responsibility.

The pause is not wasted time. It is sacred space. It is the place where we refill our own well, where we remember what matters, and where we gather the strength to keep showing up fully in our lives. Without these moments, it is easy to lose ourselves in the constant noise of doing. With them, we remember that being is just as important.

If you are reading this today, consider it your reminder. Allow yourself to pause. Just for a breath. Just for a heartbeat. Close your eyes, take your hand to your heart, and feel your chest rise and fall. Ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” and wait for the answer to come.

The world will keep spinning, but in your pause you may discover that the stillness was not an interruption to your life. It was the doorway back to yourself. That is why I go to Hammock Healing with Katie. It is my weekly invitation to slow down, to breathe, and to remember that the pause itself is where healing begins. I invite you to join me there, so you too can experience what it feels like to truly rest, reconnect, and return to yourself.
